This CEU program consists of three streaming videos. Some of the information in this program (RSP1 and RSP2) is included in the longer seminar SEM10A.

RSP1 Assessing Respiration Function in Children with Neurological Disorders (39 min.)
by Merry M. Meek, M.S., CCC-SLP, Advanced NDT Speech Instructor.

Respiration is an integral component of eating, swallowing, phonation and speech. Often overlooked in treatment are respiratory support, timing, the ability to hold during swallowing, and grading of exhalation during phonation. These major difficulties interfere with oral-motor function. This video presents the basic components and assessment parameters for investigating respiratory issues in children with neuromotor disorders.

RSP2 Treatment for Improved Respiration and Phonation (45 min.)
by Merry M. Meek, M.S., CCC-SLP, Advanced NDT Speech Instructor.

This video addresses the concepts of respiration as they relate to the development of function. Treatment techniques are demonstrated for establishing respiratory control as a support for functional motor activity.

RF1 Using Developmental Movement to Assist Respiratory Function (26 min.)
by Christine A. Nelson, Ph.D., OTR, FAOTA, NDT Coordinator Instructor.

This video presents examples of treatment strategies for a child with pulmonary dysplasia. The ideas presented are generally applicable to other children with respiratory issues.
